About Our Team
The 2011 Savannah Bulldogs are off to another great season. They are entering their second year of 10 and under ball and the expectations are very high for this special group of little league baseball players. The boys (and the families!) have worked really hard to get ready for the upcoming season and are excited about the opportunities that await them.
The first few weeks of the season have exceeded any and all hopes as the team is off to an incredible start. The Bulldogs have played in three early tournaments. The first being in Jacksonville, FL where they went 4-1 and placed “2011 Jacksonville Freeze Out Runner Ups”. They then traveled to Lexington, SC and went 4-0 en route to being the “2011 USSSA March Mayhem Champions” in the Gold Division. And most recently returned from Atlanta, GA going 5-0 and ending up as the “2011 Triple Crown March Madness Champions”!
In closing, the 10 and under Savannah Bulldogs are incredibly excited about this year’s season. Thank you for your support as we enter into another year of little league baseball!
Sincerely,
Coach Ed Johns

2010 First Annual Yard Sale
Thank you to the families that came out in support of our first annual yard sale. Thankfully, the weather was not near as brisk as anticipated. The team event was very enjoyable for the boys and the families. I will send out an e-mail with a final “tally” of the monies raised for the team. On the ride home after the event ended, my son asked me, “Dad, how long we were at the park?”. When I responded six hours he said, “We’ve really got a special group of players! It’s amazing how much fun we can have together coming up with different things to do! We had a football, a racquetball, and some golf balls and had so much fun!” That made my day and hopefully it will yours as well. Thanks again!

Fall Baseball Update
Week 3 for the Bulldogs
Details on Week 3 after a quick update on the Jay Criscione Tournament “Super NIT” played in Lexington, South Carolina. Several of the Savannah Bulldogs baseball players traveled to Irmo, SC and played in the above noted baseball tournament. They played in the upper major division and had a very impressive showing considering the level of competition they faced. The boys went 3-1 and finished the tournament in third place. They lost in the semi-finals to the Greenville Pirates who ended up placing first overall. A special thanks to Chris Maudlin and Brian Moore who took care of scheduling for the tournament and did an amazing job of coaching the boys over the course of the weekend.
Now week 3 for the Fall League
The Bulldogs returned to the field on Sunday in Savannah to play in their third week of the Savannah Fall Ball League. In the first game of the double header, they faced a very good 12 and under Hilton Head Tide Team. The Tide went up early 2-0 and the Bulldogs battled back briefly tying the game 2-2 in the second inning. In the third inning, the 12 and under Tide Team exploded for a very lopsided win. After the game, the coaches asked the kids to respond to the loss by giving it their maximum “Effort” in the second game of the twin billing which was to be played against the Bluffton Buzzards. The Bluffton Buzzards are the only other 10 and under team in the fall league. No matter win or lose, score, or any other matter, the coaches pleaded for all of the boys to give 110% “Effort”.
The Bulldogs answered their request above and beyond the coaches calling and went on to beat the Bluffton Buzzards by a score of 12-6. The Bulldogs had 11 hits, 1 hit batsmen, and reached base on three errors. No walks were allowed by the Buzzards pitchers. Two Bulldog pitchers limited the Buzzards to 6 runs on a mere four hits, but they allowed 7 walks, and 2 batters reached on fielding errors. Several outstanding defensive plays offset the unusually high number of walks by Bulldog pitching.
The Bulldogs kept their record at .500 in the 12 and under Savannah Fall Baseball League. They will be off the upcoming weekend and will await the schedule from Randy Harrell, director of the league. Please check back in over the next few weeks to see how the fall season concludes for the Savannah Bulldogs Baseball team.
Thanks,
Coach Johns
Fall Baseball Update
The Bulldogs Fall Baseball Season is underway and the Bulldogs are off to a 2-2 start. The team is playing “up” in the U’12 bracket and is facing some great competition. In week one, the Bulldogs faced the “Curve”, one of Savannah’s elite 12 and under teams. The Curve edged the Bulldogs 5-2 in spite of a tremendous effort as they faced two very good Curve pitchers. In the second game, the Bulldogs defeated the Ravens by a score of 19-0. Week 2-The Bulldogs played the Chain Wildcats another second year 12 and under team. The Wildcats won the game by a score of 7-4. Again, we could not be more proud of the way the boys battled an older team to the end. In the second game, they faced the Bluffton Green Machine, a first year 12 and under team. An incredible game led to the Bulldogs winning in a dramatic walk off single in the bottom of the sixth inning! In short, even though the record is .500, the Bulldogs are gaining invaluable experience thus far in the Savannah Fall League. More post coming in a few weeks.
